Happy Tuesday, crafty friends! I hope you had a wonderful start to your week. Just popping in to share another card featuring our April 2023 release at Pinkfresh Studio! Yesterday I shared a slimline card where I had snipped off just the banner from the Sweet Day cake to use on my card. Today I'm sharing what I did with the rest of it!
Solid foiling can be quite bold, and I don't always love it front & center. For this card I paired the ink blended cake that no longer had the bunting, and adhered it to the top of the solid foiled piece. It gave the cake back its adorable banner element, but all in gold! This is a simple and fun way to use up those solid pieces that you have after a foiling session. I don't feel bad about covering the solid foiled cake, because doing it this way really helped this card come together easily!
Best Wishes card

Here are the instructions on how to create this card:
- Cut & fold an A2 card base from light pink cardstock.
- Add the background design directly to the card front by diecutting it with the Floral Tile coverplate die. (Most of our coverplates do not have outer cutting lines, making it super simple to do this.)
- Diecut the largest Nested Arch from the middle of an A2 sized white cardstock panel, then mount to the card front with foam tape.
- Foil the Sweet Day plate to white cardstock using Aura foil, then use the Solid Hot Foil Plate to foil the leftover.
- Ink blend with the layering stencils in the following colors (Keep in mind that I used the banners yesterday. This info is for the rest of the cake & cupcake):
Stencil 1: Ballet Slipper
Stencil 2: Coral Reef (cupcake), Ballet Slipper & Warm Buff (cake)
Stencil 3: Coral Reef (see banner colors on yesterday's post)
Stencil 4: Doe
Stencil 5 & 6: OMIT
- Heat emboss the 1-piece Basic Banners: Celebrate sentiment set in white to pink cardstock.
- Diecut the foiled & heat embossed images with their coordinating dies, along with the Wrap Around Elements pieces from gold pearl paper.
- Adhere the trimmed cake piece to the top of the matching solid foiled piece.
- Adhere the remaining elements to the card, popping some up with foam adhesive for added dimension.
- Accent with Espresso, Ballet Slipper & Glacier jewels to finish.
I hope you enjoyed my little 2-part series this week! Solid foiling doesn't always have to be extremely bold. By adding just a touch, it really helped my card come to life. Just a reminder, when you are having a foiling session...don't forget to do the solid foiling right away. I will typically foil all the standard images first, and then solid foil all of the leftovers right after. It's a quick process once you've gotten the solid plate heated up properly. :)
