Happy Saturday, crafty friends! I wanted to pop in and share a colorful card that I've created with a stencil set that you can get FREE this week at Pinkfresh Studio with purchases $25+! (There are a couple exclusions, including Glimmer Hot Foil Systems and Create & Connect registration.) Up for grabs is the Folk Floral Print 5-piece layering stencil set with a retail value of $17. That's a pretty amazing freebie if you're asking me! Lol!
You don't have to do anything special in order to receive the stencil set. Just place your eligible order - it must be $25+ before shipping and our warehouse team will manually add the free gift upon packing & shipping. You won't see it in your cart, nor do you need to add it, but rest assured - we will stop promoting this freebie if we run out of them. :)
Every time I've used this stencil set, I've made it the focal point on my card. (Don't get me wrong - it's a beautiful design and deserves to be showcased. But lately I've been trying to push myself to get more out of my supplies and after ink blending this set, I realized that it would make a lovely background. Almost like custom patterned paper! Because it was so colorful, I added stamped flowers in crisp detail black, with color only added by some glitter drop accents. I really love how this turned out, and it's a good reminder that you don't always have to color your stamped images! The black outline flowers give it a bit of a modern feel, and I love that!
You can get more details about my card below!

Here is a quick overview of how to recreate these cards:
- Create A2 sized card base from dahlia cardstock.
- Ink blend the Folk Floral Print layering stencils to an A2 sized white cardstock panel in Begonia, Mango Sorbet, Citron, Spruce Tips & Paradise inks.
- Diecut the panel with the largest Stitched Rectangle, then mount to the card front with foam adhesive.
- Stamp the Thanks for Being There flower images to white cardstock in Detail Black ink.
- Diecut the floral image with the coordinating die.
- Diecut the Braided Oval from ivory glitter cardstock.
- Stamp the sentiment in Begonia ink, then stamp over top in embossing ink.
- Cover in clear embossing powder and then heat set for a glossy finish.
- Diecut the sentiment along with two extra layers. Stack & glue together.
- Use the Braided Oval as a guide to cut the stamped floral element into two pieces.
- Layer the elements to the card front as shown, popping some layers up with foam tape for added dimension.
- Accent with Blossom, Butterscotch & Lagoon glitter drops to finish.
TIP: The Braided Ovals die has a lot of details that are quite intricate. I would suggest using either a metal shim or the bubble mailer technique for diecutting with this set. I prefer the bubble mailer option because it feels like less wear & tear on my diecutting machine.
If you've never heard of this, it's very simple! Layer your cutting sandwich like normal, but place one layer of a bubble mailer UNDERNEATH the paper you are cutting into. (Basically - you want the die to cut into the paper and then into the bubble mailer piece). This applies more even pressure, and many of the chads will stay behind in the bubble mailer as well. Not to mention - it makes your diecut machine sound like it's tooting, which makes me laugh. But maybe I'm still a little immature...lol! ;)
November Gratitude & Thanks Challenge
I also created today's card with the Pinkfresh Studio November challenge in mind! This month is all about thanks & gratitude, and we've chosen colors from our brand new inks. As always you can use just the theme, just the colors, or use both for your projects! The colors are just a guideline, and you are also free to substitute for similar colors.
One cardmaking entry and one memory-keeping entry will receive a $50 gift card to the Pinkfresh Studio Store! The two winners will be randomly selected based on these two categories. It's definitely worth it to create & enter some projects, and you are allowed to enter up to 3 projects to increase your chances of winning.
