Happy Saturday, crafty friends! I hope you find yourselves having a wonderful weekend so far.
Yesterday was a dark day. The anniversary of Layton's death is always my worst, most triggering day of the year. It became further compounded two years ago when I lost my sweet grandma on the same day. Yesterday I felt myself falling into that pit of despair that most days I keep at bay, and this year I just needed to sit there. The thing about darkness? It's always followed by light. It's one of the most beautiful things about life. I'm not miraculously healed. I don't miraculously feel better. I can just see the light today, when I couldn't yesterday.
Part of that is because you, as a collective community & individually, poured your love & light into me. I shared some favorite photos of Layton on my Instagram feed with a short caption giving a small peek into what this day is like for me. You lifted me up when I couldn't do it for myself, you spoke the names of my children, and held space when I needed it most. There aren't words that can express my gratitude for that. All I can say is thank you. From the very depths of my heart...thank you.
Life is Beautiful card
Card size: A2 - 4.25" x 5.5" (inches)
FEATURED PRODUCTS - if you love my card & would like to purchase any of the products I've used, I would love for you to shop from my links! I earn a small commission at no cost to you, allowing me to contribute to our finances. I appreciate this gesture more than words can express!
Here is a quick overview of how to recreate this card:
- Cut & fold A2 card base from white cardstock.
- Apply prism paste to an A2 sized white cardstock panel using Kaleidoscope stencil 1, then set aside to dry.
- Stamp the Nothing But the Best image in Detail Black ink to white cardstock & let dry or heat set. (Or try the re-stamping technique listed below as a tip!)
- Use the coordinating stencils to ink blend in the following colors:
Stencil 1: Ballet Slipper
Stencil 2: Marigold
Stencil 3: Cherry Blossom
Stencil 4: Aquamarine
Stencil 5: Mermaid Cove
- Diecut the ink blended images with the coordinating die.
- Diecut the Ornate Rectangle Frame from specialty cardstock.
- Stamp the sentiment in Aquamarine to white cardstock.
- Diecut the sentiment with the coordinating die, along with two additional layers. Stack & glue together.
- Adhere the prism paste panel to the card front, then mount the frame with thin foam strips.
- Adhere the flowers to the corner, then mount the sentiment to the front with foam adhesive.
- Accent with clear drops & glitter drops to finish.
TIP: Rather than waiting for your hybrid ink to dry or heat setting it, you can also do the re-stamping technique! Stamp the image in any color dye ink to your cardstock panel (I typically use gray), then leave the stamp in your stamping platform. Proceed to ink blending, then place the panel back into your stamping platform exactly where you had placed it previously and re-stamp with Detail Black or your preferred black hybrid ink. Aligning it to one corner of your stamping platform will yield the best results, making sure that the stamp will line back up seamlessy without any haloing.
This not only gives you a nice, crisp impression over top the ink blending, but you don't have to worry about your hybrid ink smearing. It can dry/set up on it's own while you continue with the creation & assembly of your card! I love this method and use it 99% of the time when wanting a crisp, black outline.
